Commercial vehicles cause chaos on I-70

Trucks are essential to the strong U.S. economy, bringing food and freight to every corner of the country. Ohio, at the head of the Midwest, is crossed in every direction with important highways, include a large number of limited-access roads such as interstates.

Unfortunately, the number and diversity of vehicles on the major roads of the country increase the risks of a damaging or injurious collision. Truck accidents, especially collisions with other vehicles, can be especially damaging due to the weight and speed of the vehicles, whether or not they are carrying cargo.

An accident near the state capital caused delays and further hazards on Interstate 70 when a pair of commercial trucks became disabled on the eastbound side of the highway. Columbus police reported that a dump truck was traveling on the interstate with its bed in the upright position when it struck the I-270 overpass.

Police reports say a semi and some passenger vehicles were also disabled or damaged in the incident. No serious injuries were reported during the multi-vehicle accident, although the highway was closed until early the next morning.

The collision beat the odds when no other people were injured. Multi-vehicle accidents involving semis and other large commercial vehicles often cause injuries, occasionally resulting in a fatality.

Legal representation is often advisable for victims of truck accidents who are seeking compensation for medical expenses or reimbursement for pain and suffering. An attorney can help chart the best path through settlements or court actions to be made whole through financial damages.
